When Do Black Lives Matter

When Do Black Lives Matter

We have and will continue to see and hear the phrase #Blacklivesmatter. The question we are asking today is, when and which Black lives matter? The nation is all engrossed in the Texas case of a disobedient Black 14 year old girl being held on the ground by a white police officer.  All the usual suspects expressed all the usual outrage when the police officer pulled his service weapon when approached by 2 Black young men. No one was shot, tasered, or even injured during this confrontation. And as usual none of the facts of the case mattered to any of the usualyl outraged. The optics of a young Black, bikini-clad girl being held on the ground was enough to lead the usually outraged to the usual conclusion, racism.

If these outraged are looking for real tragedy, they need look no further than Tampa Florida where on a quiet sunny Sunday afternoon a 14 year old boy was gunned down. He was no causing trouble, he was unarmed, he was across the street from his home when his life was cut short. But I am sure you have not heard about him or his grieving father and brother. You have not heard the sad story of how young Edward lost his mother to illness last November. Why don’t you know anything about this? Because Edward was not gunned down, murdered in cold blood by a white police officer or a cop wanna-be like George Zimmerman.  Edward was killed by someone that looked a great deal like him.

It seems that when there is a white police officer involved, the eyesight and memory of an entire community is keen and everyone is very talkative. But when there are no reporters, or television cameras, everyone seems blind, deaf, and dumb. Word on the street is that the killers have threatened the entire neighborhood not talk to the police. In the mean time Mr. Harris is looking for donations to help bury his son. Where are Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Corrine Brown? Where is CNN, MSNBC, and the New Black Panther Party? Do they care about the lives of Mr. Davis? Do they care about the life of a dead 14 year old Black child? When do #Blacklivesmatter and which lives?
