Only weeks after being re-elected Governor Rick is causing some turbulence in the upper levels of state government. After the controversial dismissal of the head of The Florida Department of Law Enforcement chief, Gerald Bailey, Scott has called for the replacement of three top financial officers. Reports state that a letter was sent to CFO Jeff Atwater, that he wanted to shake things up to bring in some new ideas.
Commissioner Kevin McCarty, Department of Revenue Executive Director Marshall Stranburg, and Drew Breakspear, commissioner of the Office of Financial Regulation are all on the outs if Scott has his way. There doesn’t seem to much resistance from those on the cabinet at this point. Most of their focus is being placed on the particulars of the Bailey dismissal.
It is being speculated that Scott wants state government to perform more like a business. In business changes at the upper levels oft-times bring new idea with new people. We here, at FLORIDA DASH will keep on top of this developing story.
